Storytelling through film

I personally have little to no experience with film or video of any kind, so this one has taken a bit of thinking. Where do i start? I love stories, and would love to become a better story teller myself. With film and video you have to actually physically create the visuals of the story you are telling, and i like the idea of that, don't get me wrong, i love written and spoken stories as well. The way that you have to create the idea of the visuals through words and virtually nothing else is fascinating to me. Anyway, back to storytelling through film. I think i could become a better story teller through film by incorporating a more personal touch through the style and use cinematography, and the way i tell the story.

Using Illustrator

Illustrator is great. By using Illustrator I was able to learn the difference between a raster image and a vector image and a little bit about how they work, which kind of fascinates me. I like that i am able to create cleaner more scalable graphics using Illustrator. The only thing i struggled with while using Illustrator was learning how to navigate the tools and features, but that may only be because i wasn't able to spend very much time using it. Overall i just like Illustrator and these Adobe programs in general. Here is some of my work. The only thing i did to find inspiration for these graphics that i made was googling images that had a similar concept or idea as whatever i was creating.

Using Photoshop

Since we first started using Photoshop a couple of weeks ago, I have learned a little bit about myself and the way that my creative mind thinks. I have also started to see  kind of what my "touch" is, in the design process. I like Photoshop because you can use it for so many different things, from picture editing, to graphic design etc. It's also fun to be able to just create pretty much whatever your heart desires. The biggest thing i struggle with when using Photoshop is probably trying to figure out the best way to use certain tools and to do certain things a certain way, since there are actually so many different ways to do one specific thing on it. It is a bit tricky trying to remember how to use the settings and tools as well. I am definitely a beginner and nothing close to an expert, but are some of my designs i have been able to complete in these past two weeks of class.

Color Palette

I chose these colors mainly because they are some of my favorite colors. I don't necessarily have a least favorite color, but i don't particularly like primary colors. I prefer pastels, and only certain vibrant colors. Colors cause emotion and feelings, and when you add certain colors to certain designs it can make your design better, through emotion.

Being Creative

I like to think of myself as a creative person, or at least that i have the potential to be one. I have always been surrounded by creativity throughout my life. I was born into a talented family full of entrepreneurs, writers, artists, musicians, and cooks. I feel i am most creative when i am surrounded by things i find inspiring in life. My favorites are when i get to be surrounded in a beautiful green landscape with hidden lakes, streams, and rivers, or when i get to walk down a beautiful downtown street full of hidden gems, with unique buildings and people, or when i hear a piece of music that i like. I feel the most creative and inspired when the things i see or hear spark joy or some kind of strong positive feeling in me. I am most passionate about the arts, all different kinds of art, music, painting, drawing, sculpting, designing anything from buildings to websites, dancing, theater, colors and nature etc. Seeing other people create really helps me to get in a creative mode as well. I love the feeling of being creative, and it is something that i would like to spend more time on.
